PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Joreon Zoet has hinted he was close to joining Crystal Palace over the summer.

Zoet was a target for Palace when Dutchman Frank de Boer was in charge.

He recalled to Ziggo Sports: "It was my wish to leave this summer, but that was not the case.

"There was something, and there was an offer, but it was never so far that a transfer was seriously an option."

Asked if he could leave in January, Zoet added: "If something is beautiful, you should always think about football. But at this point, I'd rather just finish the season."
