PSV Eindhoven expect a bid this week to arrive from Newcastle United for Georginio Wijnaldum.

After Sunderland's approach a fortnight ago, Newcastle came forward last week to sound out PSV about the winger's situation.

Sources close to Newcastle boss Steve McClaren insist it was only an "exploratory" enquiry.

However, De Telegraaf says PSV chiefs are convinced the Toon will return with a concrete bid for the Holland international.

Wijnaldum will need some convincing about a move to Tyneside after helping PSV win the title last season and qualify for the Champions League.
