Ooijer left PSV for Blackburn in 2006 and has 12 months remaining on his Ewood Park contract.

The experienced defender admitted at the end of last season that he may leave Blackburn to secure regular football. However, PSV coach Huub Stevens Voetbal International: "He has played at PSV and he would bring a huge load of experience with him.

"So, he is an interesting player indeed.

"He is tied to his club in England, so at this moment he absolutely looks a financial bridge too far."
