Manchester United have lodged an official enquiry with PSV Eindhoven regarding Memphis Depay.

The Dutch club's technical director Marcel Brands has confirmed that Louis van Gaal's Red Devils have made contact with PSV regarding their 21-year old star who leads the Eredivisie's goal scoring charts this season.

Brands said on Dutch television: "We have had a telephone call from them about him.

"But no talks have been held yet. There are several top clubs who have expressed an interest."

Depay is being heavily linked with a summer departure from PSV who sewed up the Eredivisie title for the first time since 2008 with a 4-1 win over Heerenveen in which the Holland international was on the scoresheet.
