Agent Luis Alberto Aguerre has cast doubt on Wigan Athletic's pursuit of Ecuador international striker Cristian Benitez.

Wigan boss Steve Bruce and GM John Benson were in South America this week to watch Benitez in World Cup qualifying action.

However, Aguerre, who has been given permission by Santos Laguna to negotiate Benitez's transfer, insists there hasn't been any contact with the Latics and instead says PSV Eindhoven are favourites for the striker.
