PSV admit losing money selling Propper to Brighton

PSV Eindhoven lost money on the sale of Davy Propper to Brighton last month.

The Holland international has impressed for the Premier League new boys, with manager Chris Hughton pleased with the way he has settled.

Meanwhile, it's been revealed Propper was close to joining Zenit St Petersburg in January.

On Propper's €13m sale to Brighton, PSV chief Marcel Brands stated: "We had not planned that, but by missing out on European football, his transfer was necessary.

"Last season we had the feeling that we could still be champion during the winter break, so we dropped his transfer, despite the fact that more than €15m was offered (by Zenit)."
