PSG defender Marquinhos admits he values the influence former teammate David Luiz had on his career.

Marquinhos has stepped in to fill the void left by Luiz this season after the latter left for Chelsea.

But he insists: "If I was helped by the departure of David Luiz?

"With Thiago Silva, they were friends who helped me a lot. I played with both, I have all the time tried to learn from them.

"It's great to have worked with players like that, experienced, who have played high-level matches."
