PSG are convinced they have beaten Manchester City and Real Madrid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

The Daily Star says PSG sporting director Leonardo has held several meetings with 26-year-old Cavani's representatives.

And it looks to have worked, with Cavani telling the French billionaires that Paris is his preferred destination for next season.

It is understood PSG have agreed to meet Napoli's £60m asking price and will hand the striker a four-year deal worth £8m a season.

A PSG source said: "Leonardo has met Cavani's agent and a deal is in place. A fee and contract has been negotiated so PSG are now in pole position.

"Other clubs wanted to sign him, including Manchester City and Real Madrid, but the player thinks the project at PSG more interesting."
