PSG coach Blanc takes swipe at leadership skills of Man Utd target Cavani

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has questioned the leadership abilities of Edinson Cavani.

The Frenchman is of the belief that the likes of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Brazilian midfielder Thiago Silva are more suited to off-field leadership roles than the Uruguayan is.

Cavani scored the opening goal for PSG in the weekend's French Ligue 1 clash with Sochaux before Thiago Silva's own-goal forced a 1-1 draw at the Stade Auguste Bonal in Montbeliard.

However, Blanc said after the match that the 27-year old former Napoli and Palermo ace finds it difficult to lead by example off the pitch.

"Cavani can be a leader on the field. Off the field, I think it is harder for him to be," he said at the post-match press conference according to AS.

"(PSG) have leaders in the group, as Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic."

Blanc's words have added fuel to the fire that perhaps Cavani could be offloaded in the summer with Manchester Unitedshowing considerable interest in the prolific goalscorer.

Cavani has scored 16 times in 29 appearances in France's top flight this season for a total of 25 goals in 42 outings following his €64.5million move from Napoli in July 2013.
