PSG captain Thiago Silva says he was always confident of Marco Verratti staying in Paris.
The Italy midfielder was a confirmed summer target for Barcelona, where he held talks with sports director Robert Fernandez and also met with Leo Messi in Ibiza.
However, Verratti ultimately stayed with PSG, sacking agent Donati di Campli in the process.
After victory over Guingamp, Thiago Silva stated: "I did not believe in the departure of Verratti. I was very confident, especially because the president likes this player a lot.
"He locked him in the room: 'He will stay there!' Eventually Marco stayed, and the president immediately thought of a player from Barça to strengthen ourselves. We are not here to sell the players, we are here to buy them."
