A private investigator claims he was hired by the News of the World to spy on a host of famous names from the world of football, reports the Daily Mirror. Personalities included Sir Alex Ferguson, David Beckham and even John Motson.
Former police officer Derek Webb told the BBC's Newsnight programme on Tuesday that he was paid by the newspaper to follow more than 100 famous figures over an eight year period, until it closed in July.
