Rade Prica refuses to give up on his career at Sunderland.
Prica, who scored in the 4-0 win for Sunderland reserves over Blackburn last week, said: "There were clubs interested in the summer but time ran out and nothing was agreed. It would be great if things could change for me here, but if not then I hope in January to get something new.
"I would have won the Danish championship with Aalborg last season and be playing Champions League football now if I had stayed there. That would have been great, but every professional wants a chance to play in the best league in Europe, so I don't regret coming to Sunderland.
"Of course, I wish I could have had more time on the pitch but this is the best league so it is the toughest league to make your mark. Whatever happens to me, the main thing I have to say is that I have always given 100 per cent. I have given it my best shot."
