Genoa admit they're in the market for a new striker.
Former Genoa star Diego Milito has been linked with a return from Inter Milan.
"It was yet again clear against Inter that we are missing a striker," President Enrico Preziosi said after the 1-0 loss on Tuesday.
"Whether that man is Gilardino, Roma's Marco Borriello or Diego Milito of Inter, we need a player who can hold up the ball and score a good number of goals.
"In January we will make moves to bring in a player with those types of characteristics."
