Preston North End have warned Premier League clubs off midfielder Adam Barton.

Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland have been linked with the teen.

Scouts have been tracking the 19-year-old midfielder this season but Preston have been quick to offer him a new three year contract and North End chairman Maurice Lindsay said: "I don't care if it was Manchester City or another rich club interested.

"He has a lot of progress to make at this club. The only way that progress could get interrupted and spoilt is if outside pressure comes from greedy agents or interfering club managers who want to plunder Preston."
