Preston North End have revealed David Nugent's move to Portsmouth was for an initial £4.5 million.
The fee could rise to £5.7million, however, if certain performance-related conditions agreed as part of the deal are met.
The England striker, 22, joined Harry Redknapp's side last week after stalling over a move to top-flight new boys Sunderland.
