According to chairman Peter Ridsdale League One Preston are close to appointing a new manager. Ridsdale confirmed the search has been narrowed down to "one, maybe two external candidates" and current caretaker duo Graham Alexander and David Unsworth, who have been in charge for the last four games.
"The two lads currently in place, in whatever combination, are still in the process.
"And we have narrowed down the external list from 25 applicants to one, maybe two candidates.
"It's just a matter of getting a few things out of the way and we're likely to be in a position by the back end of the week to make an announcement." "[On Tuesday] I had an intensive day in relation to both internal and external candidates," Ridsdale told the Lancashire Evening Post.
