Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson is moving for released Newcastle United midfielder Nicky Butt.
The Sun says Butt could be offered the chance to extend his playing career by Preston boss and former Manchester United team-mate Ferguson.
Butt, 35, a free agent after being released by Newcastle, is ready to put coaching plans on hold.
