Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson has resisted a loan move to Preston North End.

The Evening Chronicle says Williamson is understood to have turned down the chance to join Preston North End on loan.

The Championship outfit were keen on signing the Newcastle United defender on a temporary basis with North End trying to find their feet in the division following promotion last season.

But sources in Lancashire have revealed that Williamson did not fancy the move at this moment in time.
