Preston have signed Sunderland winger Ross Wallace on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old - who turned down a permanent move to Deepdale earlier this summer - has agreed to the temporary switch with a fee already agreed between the two clubs for a permanent switch if the move goes well.

There is also a clause in the deal which would see the former Celtic winger return to the Stadium of Light at the end of 2008 if either he or the Black Cats desire.

Wallace told the club's official website: "It's good to be here, it took a few days to sort but the manager wanted me here more than anyone else so I'm delighted to play and hopefully and I'll be able to play a few games.

"There is no reason why this club can't be in the Premier League and that's what I am here to do."
