Preston boss Irvine happy to be facing Everton

Preston boss Alan Irvine is delighted Everton have agreed to play a preseason friendly.

The former Blues No2 told Evertonian magazine: "I'm glad that it's pre-season and so it doesn't matter too much who wins. Had it been the FA Cup, that would have been a test of loyalties!

"I'm really looking forward to the game and to David Moyes, the players and staff coming because I love seeing them and talking to them. I get a lot of text messages from the players and I still feel very close to them all.

"I'm delighted that David has agreed to come. I know that he feels a little bit awkward about it because he doesn't like people to think this is what he does every year but I managed to twist his arm!"
