Preston boss Phil Brown is relaxed about his position despite a poor run of results. Brown watched North End bow out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle on Tuesday night as Liam Dickinson's 55th-minute strike handed Southend a 1-0 win.
"It is not the lowest I have felt as Preston manager but it is a low point and I will demand more from the players," said Brown, whose side have now lost eight, drawn two and won just two since the end of September.
He added: "We did not deserve to win. There was a lot of endeavour and effort but not enough quality. The senior players are not available due to injury. We want to have all hands to the pump and unfortunately we cannot have it.
"We are not producing it and we are not playing football. Southend have put bodies on the line in order to get a win. We need conviction in the final third and we did not have that.
"The good news is that five of the injured lads are available for training on Thursday and if they come through that, they will be in contention for selection for Saturday."
