Preston boss Brown excited about landing Tottenham defender Khumalo

Preston North End boss Phil Brown is delighted with their loan capture of Tottenham defender Bongani Khumalo.

The South Africa captain moved to Deepdale on Thursday.

"I am absolutely delighted," the manager told the official website. "For a club in our situation, fighting a relegation battle at the bottom of the Championship, to get an international player from Spurs stinks of the quality of the relationship with Tottenham and more importantly my relationship with Harry.

"He has done us a massive favour letting us borrow a player of Bongani's quality and stature who has come to us on loan until the end of the season.

"The lad's currently on international duty and has a game against Egypt at the weekend. Hopefully he will come through that unscathed and we will see the benefits of his qualities.

"He's a big lad, he's a quick central defender and with the right type of coaching and the right type of mentality and approach to the games, hopefully he'll be a massive success at Preston North End."
