Pressure is on Redknapp's QPR says Villa boss Lambert

Paul Lambert believes all the pressure will fall on Queens Park Rangers this weekend and not his Aston Villa side.

Villa sits 17th on the table, just a point clear of the relegation zone, but Lambert suggests that the R's, sitting firmly at the foot on a measly five points, are the ones who desperately need a result.

Lambert hailed the fact that Harry Redknapp is now at the helm at Loftus Road but heaped pressure on the ex-Tottenham manager with his pre-game ahead of tomorrow's fixture in West London.

"Harry going in there will automatically give them a big lift because he is a brilliant manager. Everyone knows what Harry can do from the clubs he has been at during his career," he said.

"QPR have an abundance of really good players, the crowd will be buoyant and will get behind him. You wish him well - but after Saturday.

"The pressure is on QPR to make the running but we are definitely a threat, that's for sure.

"We would be happy to win the game for ourselves and keep them down there.

"We are certainly playing well enough to go and win. We are only a few points off mid-table. It is so tight in the bottom half of the table."
