The pressure is on new Aston Villa chief Tom Fox to secure Ron Vlaar to a new deal.

The Holland defender is in the final year of his contract at Villa Park.

He has held casual talks with boss Paul Lambert about his future, but no detailed negotiations have yet taken place.

Lambert said: "We have just got a new chief executive in the building which will certainly help and I am pretty sure we will sit down."
