PREMIERSHIP WRAP: Chelsea return to top spot, Everton and Blackburn win but Villa and Arsenal remain scoreless

Chelsea are top of the pile once again after beating form team Birmingham 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard struck a brace, one in each half, as Birmingham City's 16 game unbeaten run finally came to an end.

Chelsea took an early lead through Florent Malouda who headed home Joe Cole's cross.

The host's continued to dominate and were rewarded just after the half hour with a long range Lampard strike, who then added a third in the final minute.

Everton's fine run of form continued with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Sunderland who are in freefall at the moment.

Landon Donovan netted his first goal for the Blues after Tim Cahill had nodded the Toffees ahead.

The Black Cats have now recorded just one win in 13 league matches.

An exciting game ended scoreless at Villa Park between Aston Villa and visitor's Arsenal.

The Gunners twice hit the woodwork - Cesc Fabregas struck the post in first-half stoppage time and then Tomas Rosicky crashed a shot against the underside of the bar after the break.

Arsenal now drop down to third whilst Villa remain in seventh.

Blackburn continue to pull away from the wrong end of the table with three points in a 2-1 home win over fellow strugglers Wigan.

Gary Caldwell scored his first goal for the Latics, levelling after the break. Morten Gamst Pedersen took advantage of a mistake from on-loan goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic in the 20th minute to put Rovers ahead.

However, Nikola Kalinic claimed the winner with 15 minutes to go, heading in a Pedersen corner, again the visitor's keeper was at fault.
