Premiership future comes first before Wigan open Moses talks
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is confident of agreeing a new contract with Victor Moses, but admits the issue is currently on hold as the Latics battle the drop.
The winger has been discussing a new deal at the DW Stadium for some time and Martinez admitted before Christmas that he was optimistic an agreement could be reached.
"He is only a young man but the manner in which he is taking responsibility and playing his football in the circumstances we are in shows how strong-minded he is.
"I know that they can go on to the next level but he probably needs another 40 or 50 games in the Premier League.
"He is capable of playing for any team. He understands how important he is for us and I'm sure we're going to be able to extend his contract.
"There have been some developments but, as you can imagine, the situation at the club is so important that every personal issue is going to be looked at after the next few weeks." "He is a big asset for our football club," said Martinez after Moses shone in Saturday's 2-1 win at relegation rivals Bolton.
