Canaries destroyer Luis Suarez, who netted four goals and provided an assist midweek, was at it again when firing on target in the 42nd minute to see Jussi Jaaskelainen's save trickle in off the feet of defender Guy Demel.
Early in the second half, the Reds went two up when Steven Gerrard's assist was fortuitously bundled in by Mamadou Sakho before Martin Skrtel gave the visitors some hope when he knocked Matt Jarvis' back post header into his own net.

Manchester United were beaten for the second match in a row when losing 1-0 to Newcastle United at Old Trafford following Yohan Cabaye's 61st minute finish from Moussa Sissoko's cross.
It was the fourth league fixture without a win for the reigning champions, the loss having them sitting ninth on the table, while the Magpies moved up to seventh after securing their fifth win from six outings.
Stoke City caused the upset of the weekend by beating Chelsea 3-2 at the Britannia Stadium after conceding early.
Andre Schurrle produced a piece of individual brilliance when zigging and zagging before firing across Asmir Begovic from the edge of the area before the Potters levelled through Peter Crouch netted from close range after controlling Marko Arnauvoic's corner in the 42nd minute.
Stephen Ireland then put Stoke ahead with a fine finish less than ten minutes into the second half before Schurrle responded for the Blues with his second minutes later courtesy of a stunning half-volley.
However, Mark Hughes' men again got the ascendency on Jose Mourinho's charges when Liverpool loanee Oussama Assaidi scored a brilliant 90th minute winner which gave Petr Cech no chance.
The win saw Stoke moved up to 12th while Chelsea dropped down to third with their third loss of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace made it two wins in a row and three in their past four when beating Cardiff City 2-0 thanks to goals from Cameron Jerome and Marouane Chamakh, some Dani Osvaldo brilliance cancelled out Sergio Aguero's opener as Southampton drew 1-1 with Manchester City while Gary Hooper and Leroy Fer scored as Norwich Ctiy got the better of West Bromwich Albion with a 2-0 result at The Hawthorns.
Tottenham came from behind to beat Sunderland 2-1 at the Stadium of Light to move to sixth, first-half goals from Steve Sidwell and Dimitar Berbatov gave Fulham their first win under Rene Meulensteen as they beat Aston Villa 2-0 and Everton held league leaders Arsenal to a 1-1 draw with Barcelona loanee Gerard Deulofeu producing a superb 84th minute equaliser after Mesut Ozil's 80th minute opener.
Monday night sees 11th-placed Swansea City host 13th-placed Hull City at the Liberty Stadum.
