The 2012/13 Barclays Premier League season came to a close on the weekend with all 10 fixtures being played on Sunday.
Sir Alex Ferguson's remarkable career as Manchester United manager ended with a thrilling 5-5 draw with West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Champions United led by three goals at two separate times but were denied the perfect send-off for Fergie with Steve Clarke's Albion, led by a Romelu Lukaku hat-trick, pegging them back with three goals in the final nine minutes to force the highest-scoring draw in Premier League history.
Arsenal beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park to wrap up fourth spot and Champions League football for another season, denying North London rivals Tottenham that chance, even though Gareth Bale's late strike earned Spurs a 1-0 victory over Sunderland.
Elsewhere, Europa League winners Chelsea made it a sour end at Everton for David Moyes by winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic drew 2-2 with Aston Villa and League Cup winners Swansea City were beaten 3-0 at home by Fulham.
Liverpool gave retiring veteran Jamie Carragher a winning end by beating relegated QPR 1-0 at Anfield, Norwich City stunned Manchester City 3-2, Southampton and Stoke City played out a 1-1 draw and West Ham United sent Reading down to the Championship with bad memories of a 4-2 defeat thanks to a Kevin Nolan treble.
United ended up with 89 points to finish 11 clear of second-placed City with Chelsea three points behind them in third. Arsenal were fourth on 73 points, Tottenham behind them on 72, Everton finished above Merseyside rivals Liverpool in sixth whilst West Brom managed to end the season in eighth.
Following them were Swansea and West Ham to round out the top ten ahead of Norwich, Fulham, Stoke, Southampton and Villa.
In the bottom five sat Tyne-Wear rivals Newcastle and Sunderland with the latter three points clear of the relegation zone which included Wigan, QPR and Reading.
