PREMIER LEAGUE WRAP: Everton, West Brom continue terrific start as Chelsea get late winner

Everton and West Bromwich Albion are surprisingly sitting second and third on the Premier League table respectively following victories today.

The Toffees made it two wins from three on the road, for a total of three wins from five, with a 3-0 triumph at Swansea City. Victor Anichebe made it two in two with a 22nd minute finish before Kevin Mirallas netted his first league goal for the club and then Marouane Fellaini headed home his third of the campaign.

Steve Clarke's beginning to life with West Brom continued as they made it a perfect start at The Hawthorns with their third victory form three games, keeping a trio of clean sheets and scoring six goals, to beat Reading 1-0. Romelu Lukaku's 71st minute finish separated the teams as Albion moved third after securing their 10th point of the season thus far.

In London, England international Ashley Cole scored his first goal in more than two years to allow league leaders Chelsea to extend their lead at the top of the table to three points. Cole's 85th minute strike gave the Blues a 1-0 home win over Stoke City who were so close to securing a fifth consecutive draw but in the end came up short.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Southampton secured their first victory of the campaign with a come-from-behind 4-1 result over Aston Villa thanks mainly to a Rickie Lambert double (and assist) as West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan netted an injury-time equaliser to deny Sunderland full points in a 1-1 draw at Upton Park after summer signing Steven Fletcher had scored his fourth in three Black Cats outings.

And finally, Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega opened the scoring against his former club Wigan Athletic to lead the Southwest London outfit to a 2-1 win at the DW Stadium.

Tomorrow sees a huge day of action as Liverpool host arch rivals Manchester United at Anfield whilst Norwich City head to Newcastle United.

In what could potentially be the match of the round, reigning champions Manchester City are at home to in-form Arsenal and Tottenham host QPR in a London derby.
