PREMIER LEAGUE: West Brom triumph at Newcastle

Newcastle have now gone six games without a win following a 3-2 home reverse to West Bromwich Albion who now move up to tenth in the Premiership. After a start to the campaign which had them pushing above their weight according to Newcastle boss Alan Pardew the Magpies are struggling to recapture that form.

West Brom had last won at Newcastle in 1977 but began to put that record straight by taking the lead through Peter Odemwingie, only for Demba Ba to level from a firmly struck free kick.

But the Baggies regained the lead just before the break as Gareth McAuley headed home from close range.

Ba again dragged the host's level with nine minutes remaining and seemed to have earned a point for the Tynesiders.

But West Brom are made of sterner stuff away from home this season and snatched three points as Paul Scharner volleyed the winner at the end of an entertaining encounter.
