Tottenham have put together a match-winning few minutes to record a 4-1 win over Bolton at the Reebok Stadium tonight.
Spurs had opened the scoring courtesy of a cracking Luka Modric volley before Nigel Reo-Coker levelled early in the second half but the North Londoners managed to score three goals in nine minutes midway through the second 45 minutes of action to go within a point of third-placed Arsenal.
In the 37th minute, Modric controlled a short corner from Rafael van der Vaart with his chest before hammering the bouncing ball from about 30 yards past a hapless Adam Bogdan who had done so well to keep his side in the contest prior.
Bolton hadn't really threatened the Tottenham defence but managed to level the score six minutes into the second half when Reo-Coker toe-poked a close range volley past Brad Friedel after David Ngog head neatly backheeled Kevin Davies' header into the midfielder's path.
It was after that when Spurs turned it on, starting with van der Vaart's 60th minute first-time finish into Bogdan's bottom left corner from Gareth Bale's through ball to make it 2-1. That was soon followed by Modric's lovely ball from the centre of the pitch for Aaron Lennon who advanced into the area before cutting back for Emmanuel Adebayor to tap home.
The second-half rout was complete with just over 20 minutes remaining when Bale picked out Adebayor before the Togo ace rounded Bogdan with a few nice touches and then slotted home for another simple finish which was his 15th of the campaign.
Spurs produced a number of chances throughout the night with Bale and van der Vaart forcing Bogdan into a quality double save in the 12th minute before the Hungarian denied the latter in the 36th minute when the Dutchman struck powerfully on target with his right foot.
Friedel came up with his best save of the night in the 74th minute to thwart Martin Petrov's angled effort but the damage had already been done which left Owen Coyle's men in the bottom three, behind QPR on goal difference, whilst Harry Redknapp's charges look towards the Champions League with two games remaining.
