After two heavy league defeats Tottenham restored some confidence with second-half strikes in the 2-0 defeat of Wolves at Molineux. Wolves more than matches their visitors but it was Spurs who proved more clinical in front of goal for their first three points of the campaign.
Tottenham went into this game having only won three of their last fourteen league games and it was debut striker Emmanuel Adebayor who set them on their way after a scoreless first 45 minutes.
Scott Parker's perfect pass enabled the Manchester City loanee to round the keeper and open the scoring.
With ten minutes remaining the points were safe as Jermain Defoe brought to an end a faltering start to Harry Redknapp's campaign.
However, Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will be disappointed his team faded badly after the interval for their first defeat of the season.
