PREMIER LEAGUE: Terry ensures stalemate between Tottenham and Chelsea

An evenly fought contest between Tottenham and Chelsea ended with third and fourth in the table drawing 1-1 at White Hart Lane. Both London title hopefuls had their chances but a draw was a fair result as Chelsea came from behind to earn the point which means they must go back to 2005 since they last won at Spurs.

All the goals came in an exciting first half which Spurs started off impressively and deservedly took the lead when Emmanuel Adebayor converted Gareth Bale's cross.

The home side continued to dominate and Chelsea levelled against the run of play as Daniel Sturridge scored his ninth league goal of the campaign.

This goal gave Chelsea confidence and they began to trouble Tottenham, none more so than when Didier Drogba hit the wood work.

The second period was more of a tactical affair until the closing stages when both teams could have clinched the three points.

Raniere Sandro beat two players before his deflected effort was clawed to safety by the Blues keeper Petr Cech. Then from a visitor's free kick Ramires was totally unmarked but diverted his header narrowly wide.

Back came Harry Redknapp's side and deep into injury time Bale played-in Adebayor whose goalbound effort was cleared off the line by John Terry who had to suffer a litany of boos throughout the evening following being charged will alleged racial abuse on Wednesday.

Tottenham remain in third place two points ahead of Chelsea, and with a game in hand.
