Premier League target Mowatt not about to leave Leeds - McDermott

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott insists young gun Alex Mowatt will not be heading to the Premier League anytime soon.

The 18-year old midfielder has impressed in his last five starts for the Whites this season, prompting interest from some top flight clubs, but McDermott has made it clear he is not looking for the Elland Road exit door.

"I alluded to the fact that people are watching him. They can watch him as much they like, he's going nowhere as far as I'm concerned," McDermott told Sky Sports.

"His development will be at Leeds. He wants to play for Leeds. He's one of our own. He's an academy boy. He's a good lad and I think our fans really appreciate our own. I'm sure they appreciate Alex.

"His mentality is excellent. He can handle the ball, he'll take the ball even when we're under pressure and not playing particularly well. He's brave. He wants to get on the ball. It doesn't faze him.

"[Before] his first game against Doncaster, he just sat in the dressing room, didn't say anything to anyone, just went out and played like he did. He's going to be a good player."
