Sunderland today stopped a three-match winless streak by scoring twice late to defeat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 at the Reebok stadium.
The Black Cats' goals came through Stephane Sessegnon and Nicklas Bendtner inside the final ten minutes as Bolton's home record got even worse with losses in all their outings so far this term.
Sessegnon put Steve Bruce's men in front in the 82nd minute when Trotters defender Paul Robinson's header from Sebastian Larsson's corner went straight up and eventually fell to the Benin international who turned and slammed it home for the lead.
The win was wrapped up in injury time when Sessegnon turned provider with a neat through ball for Bendtner who slotted it between keeper and near post to give the Black Cats a much-needed away win.
Owen Coyle's beleaguered Trotters have now taken just six points from nine matches and have conceded 24 goals - by far the most in the competition - to sit 18th whilst Sunderland are slowly coming together and their second victory has them into 12th.
