Premier League striker set for Crewe loan

Crewe boss Steve Davis has revealed the League One newcomers are on the verge of bringing in a Premier League striker on loan. Davis' Railwaymen fell to a 2-1 opening-day defeat at home to Notts County, and Davis is seeking further reinforcements and is hopeful of bringing in an unnamed target on a six-month deal before Tuesday night's trip to Scunthorpe.

"We have agreed with a Premier League club to take one of their strikers," he told Alex's official website.

"We want to try and get him in before the match at Scunthorpe.

"He wants to come here because of the football we play and (we) have held talks with his agent. He has had other offers but he wants to come here.

"It would be a six-month loan and he is a talented boy, who is quick and scores goals. Hopefully we can sort something out very shortly."
