PREMIER LEAGUE: Sterling fires Liverpool to narrow victory over Reading

Liverpool have narrowly beaten Reading 1-0 at Anfield courtesy of Raheem Sterling's debut goal for the club.

The exciting winger became the Reds' second-youngest Premier League goalscorer behind Michael Owen at 17 years and 317 days when he netted in the 29th minute to lead the side to a much-needed win.

Sterling got on the end of Luis Suarez's clever flick-on to shoot across Royals keeper Alex McCarthy as Brendan Rodgers' men dominated for much of proceedings.

27 shots on goal was the end result for the home side as Pepe Reina's understudy Brad Jones kept a clean sheet to help send Liverpool to 11th spot whilst Brian McDermott's Reading fell to second bottom.
