Premier League out perform all rivals in income stakes

According to Sporting Intelligence, the Premier League's overall income is significantly higher than all rival leagues, reports euFootball.BIZ A significant portion of the income is the revenues generated from selling televisions rights to the League matches in foreign countries.

The total income of the Premier League from foreign deals for the 2010-2013 period is £1.437 billion, which is £479 million per annum.

This is four times La Liga annual foreign rights' income of £132 million, six times Serie A's income of £74 million, fourteen times Bundesliga's and 18 times Ligue 1's earnings.

Bundesliga has appreciated the Premier League's brand building efforts and the way they have marketed themselves on the international stage.

The Bundesliga has also increased its income from foreign rights' sales. Their worth has grown from £14.7 million per season in 2006-2009 to £35 million in 2009-2010 and there are expectations of continued growth.

The Spanish La Liga clubs sign their own individual deals and Barcelona and Real Madrid get the bulk of the revenues.

In fact the Premier League makes more from foreign rights than what the La Liga generates from all its television rights' sales.

A spokesperson for the Premier League said, "We benefit from having some of world's great club names as well as attracting and developing some iconic talent, which helps attract fans in the first instance . . . If we get the football right then the fan interest - domestic as well as international - combined with the revenues that drives, should enable our clubs to keep investing and providing entertainment."
