PREMIER LEAGUE: Norwich grab another big scalp as Man Utd lose top spot

Norwich City have produced another huge performance against a bigger club by defeating Manchester United 1-0 at Carrow Road today.

The Canaries have made a recent habit of making life difficult for the clubs at the pointy end of the Premier League table and did so again today with a deserved victory which displaced United from top spot.

Anthony Pilkington, who was disregarded by United as a youth back in 2005, was the man of the moment with a looping 60th minute header which separated the two sides in the end.

Chris Hughton's Norwich side defended solidly in the final 20 or so minutes and the manager will have goalkeeper John Ruddy to thank the most as he put in a faultless display with a number of vital saves, none more so than when he leapt to parry teammate Sebastien Bassong's injury-time header over the bar.

United huffed and puffed in Norfolk but the Canaries held strong in front of their home fans who have seen their beloved team beat Stoke City and Arsenal at home so far this season.

The victory allows Hughton's men to move up to 13th on the table whilst Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils fell back to second after reigning champs Manchester City disposed of Aston Villa 5-0 earlier today.
