The Premier League's managers regard Manchester United star Wayne Rooney as the player they'd most like to sign.

The Mirror says Rooney is the player Premier League bosses dream of signing if money was no object.

A survey of Barclays Premier League managers revealed the Manchester United and England striker - valued at £50million - to be the most desirable player in the English top flight.

Rooney ended last season with 34 goals, equalling his best-ever return, and 47 per cent of Premier League bosses admit he would be their dream acquisition.

Trailing Rooney as the Premier League's most wanted player were Arsenal striker Robin van Persie - with 20 per cent - and Manchester City's title-winning skipper Vincent Kompany, with 13 per cent.
