Manchester United kept pace with Manchester City at the top of the Premiership following a comprehensive 5-0 away success at hapless Fulham.

This was a fully deserved victory for United who showed Fulham how to finish clinically and had raced into a three goal lead by the interval.

Danny Welbeck scored from close range early on and this was added to by a header from Nani followed with a deflected Ryan Giggs effort just before the break.

This was no more than the visitor’s had deserved as they totally dominated a listless Fulham outfit who posed little threat to United’s rearguard.

Fulham improved marginally after the break without ever really threatening to score and Sir Alex Ferguson’s men showed them how to find the back of the net with two goals in the closing minutes.

Wayne Rooney hammered home from 30 yards before substitute Dimitar Berbatov ended the scoring with a cheeky back-heel.

United stay two points behind leaders City whilst Fulham are sliding alarmingly down the table towards a winter relegation battle.
