Everton and Crystal Palace played out a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Monday night.
The Toffees were hemmed back by the deep-pressing defence of the visiting Eagles for large portions of the opening 45 minutes of the contest but still managed to create a scoring threat going forward, especially after the re-start.
Romelu Lukaku, in his 100th appearance for the club, had earlier hit both the upright and the crossbar but got his rewards in the 81st minute when he netted his 50th Toffees goal with a simple tap-in from Gerard Deulofeu's low cross. The Belgian has now scored in five successive Premier League matches and has 11 for the season.
That goal came just five minutes after former Liverpool season ticket holder Scott Dann had powerfully headed Palace into the lead from Jason Puncheon's floated corner.
It would have been highway robbery had Alan Pardew's side come away with maximum points as Everton were good value for a positive result, particularly with a dominant second-half performance, but in the end honours were shared on Merseyside.
The point sees Everton, who extend their undefeated streak to four games, remain ninth on the table with 22 points as Palace edged up to sixth on 23 points.
