The Foxes currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, and Schmeichel believes it is down to the team's winning mentality, which they experienced in 2013/14 when they won the second division title.
"The position we're in, we've been in it in the Championship too, but obviously now we're in a much higher league and the attention is much higher," the Danish goalkeeper told Foxes Player HD.
"At the end of the day it's football and it's a league system. The mentality stays the same and the one thing you can say about this group is that nobody gets carried away. Everyone is level headed about the situation, like we were when we were in the Championship. We carry on and do what we've been doing.
"The winning feeling and winning mentality is something that's very important to have. Finding a way of winning games in the Premier League is very difficult but for the last year we've consistently found a way to get good results.
"Confidence is high but with this group the good thing is that nobody gets carried away. The mood was the same when we bottom of the league to how it is now. There's the same amount of focus, belief and desire."
