A fifth successive home win courtesy of a goal one minute from time was sufficient for QPR to take a major stride towards retaining their Premiership status after a 1-0 success over Stoke City. For Stoke their campaign is ending with a whimper as they have now only won once in their last ten league outings but they did contribute to an entertaining game, and had they taken their chances could have prevented the points from going to the home side.
The QPR fans celebrated at the final whistle as if they had already avoided an immediate return to the Championship thanks to substitute Djibril Cisse.
Cisse was left unmarked to collect Anton Ferdinand's flick-on from a corner to keep the R's out of the relegation zone and above Bolton with just one game left to play.
