PREMIER LEAGUE: Honours even between Villa and Everton

Aston Villa stopped the rot of losing four home games on the bounce as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton. A less than inspiring first half ended goalless but it was Villa who took the lead just after the break as they looked to extend their unbeaten league record against Everton to twelve games.

There was an element of fortune in the opener as Darren Bent's scuffed effort found the back of the net for his 98th Premier League goal.

But within 13 minutes the Toffees had drawn level as substitute Victor Anichebe took full advantage of Landon Donovan's assist.

Villa Park is not a happy hunting ground for the visitor's who have only won once in 19 Premier League visits.

One levelled Everton looked the likelier to score and despite Villa introducing loan signing Robbie Keane a draw was probably a fair result.
