Premier League chief Scudamore: Man Utd will be brought back to pack

Premier League chairman Richard Scudamore insists the competition is as competitive as ever.

Scudamore insists there isn't a gap developing after the way Manchester United had runaway with the title.

He told Absolute Radio: "I don't think so, I don't think in England, I think we'll see a situation next year, I don't make predictions but I think it will be tighter next year, I think everybody is expecting it to be tighter next year. But, just because somebody goes along and displays excellence we should celebrate that as well, if somebody does well in a golf tournament and wins it by x number of shots people celebrate the excellence.

"And, for whatever you say about the say about the season, Manchester United have put in an excellent season and excellent performance, and yet their games have been tight. There's 25 games of their 38 have been one goal or less in it, so I think 21 games with one goal or less that they've won or lost by, and then another one of four games of draws.

"So, when 25 of their games are within one goal, and the amount of times they've come back from having been losing as well, they've not had it all their own way, even though ultimately the points tally shows a good gap, they've certainly not had it all their own way in individual matches and ultimately that's what really matters."
