PREMIER LEAGUE: Cellar dwellers Wigan and Blackburn share the spoils

Wigan brought to an end eight successive league defeats but still remain bottom after a thrilling 3-3 home draw with ten-man Blackburn. Blackburn have failed to keep a clean sheet on their travels for 25 games and needed a 99th minute penalty to rescue a point against fellow strugglers Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Rovers started the game with a goal after just two minutes with a clever lob, but Wigan responded almost immediately and levelled through Jordi Gomez.

The home side took heart from this goal and made all the running and took the lead just after the half-hour as Gary Caldwell was allowed a free header from David Jones's corner.

Rovers cause looked lost when David Dunn was sent off just after the break for a second yellow card but on the hour Steve Kean's outfit restored parity from Junior Hoilett.

But with two minutes remaining Wigan looked to have clinched the points as substitute Albert Crusat to poked home from close range.

Yakubu then scored a 99th-minute penalty after Rovers keeper Paul Robinson on his 350 Premier League appearance, who had come up for a corner, was fouled.
