PREMIER LEAGUE: Cardiff held at home by Aston Villa

Cardiff City and Aston Villa have played out a 0-0 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Bluebirds were unlucky not to go ahead in the first half when Fraizer Campbell and Craig Noone saw efforts deflect onto the woodwork while Wilfried Zaha had the ball in the back of the net but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Villa then had chances in the second lot of 45 minutes only to see Cardiff keeper David Marshall produce a stunning save to deny Fabian Delph before he created one of the best saves so far this season when tipping Andreas Weimann's close-range effort over the bar in injury-time.

The draw was not ideal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Cardiff as their survival hopes remain in the balance, two points from safety, but Villa were able to shift four points away from the bottom three and into 11th spot.
