PREMIER LEAGUE: Bolton out of bottom three with contentious win over QPR

A controversial game at the Reebok saw Bolton climb out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers QPR. Bolton have the worst home record in the top four divisions but picked the right game to claim the three points against fellow relegation candidates QPR.

The Londoners have now only won one of their last 16 league games but will understandably feel aggrieved that they had a first half 'goal' not given despite clearly crossing the line, then in injury time were denied an obvious penalty as Nigel Reo-Coker clattered into Nedum Onuoha.

Against that the Wanderers will point out that Djibril Cisse was offside when he levelled the scores just after the break.

From a Joey Barton corner Clint Hill thought he headed QPR into the lead only for the officials to wave play on despite the ball crossing the line.

Insult was added to injury when Bolton opened the scoring with a Darren Pratley header following a short corner just before the interval, but the visitor's restored parity soon after the restart when Cisse, in an offside position, converted.

But just as it seemed both teams would have to settle for a point the host's claimed a vital win with four minutes remaining.

Ryo Miyaichi slid in a perfect pass for Ivan Klasnic to finish emphatically, but still the controversy was not over as in injury time Bolton survived a stonewall penalty appeal as Onuoha was brought down.

Bolton are now one point clear of the relegation places whilst QPR remain out of the bottom three on goal difference only.
