Blackburn Rovers moved three points clear of the relegation places with only their third away win in 23 games after a 2-0 success at fellow cellar dwellers Wolves. Junior Hoilett scored twice to keep Wolves in the bottom three and after the Midlanders below par showing it will need a massive effort from them to prevent Championship football at Molineux next season.
History was in favour of the visitor's who had only lost once in their last nine visits and they took the lead just before half-time when Morten Gamst Pedersen's long throw was deflected into the path of the 21 year old who half-volleyed Rovers into the lead.
Wolves enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked quality in the final third to trouble a well marshalled Blackburn rearguard.
Rovers showed them how to finish with a second goal on 68 minutes as Hoilett collected Ayegbeni Yakubu's pass before driving home from 25 yards.
The defeat leaves Wolves in 19th place and with one win in their last 14 league games whilst Rovers kept their first clean sheet in 30 games.
